This '70s Jeans Trend Is Controversial for Short Women, But I'm Trying It

As someone who's just shy of 5'3", finding denim can be challenging. And when you throw the latest trends in the mix, it becomes a process of trial and error. Today, I'll be covering the trend of flared denim, something I've seen a lot of controversy around among fashion people. Some swear by the '70s-inspired style as their go-to silhouette, and some say they wouldn't be caught in a pair. I'm always up for a little fashion challenge, and while I originally thought I couldn't pull off flared denim as a petite woman, I proved myself wrong.

As an expert shopper, I know my way around denim brands and what works for my height. There's a select number of brands I rely on, and I've taken note of inseams that work for me and ones that don't. If you're on the petite side and are looking to try out the flare trend for your denim, look no further. Below, I've rounded up the best flared jeans on the market for shorter women and even added an extra selection of petite-friendly jeans I'm loving right now.

I wear this Reformation pair at least twice a week.

Zara's length has always been tricky for shorter women, so its cropped pairs hit at the perfect length.

The high waist and slimmed leg will make your legs look way longer than they actually are.

I love how ASOS releases its jeans in petite sizing as well.

Urban Outfitters' selection of jeans meets the perfect middle ground of cool and comfortable.

Citizens of Humanity is a petite fan favorite.

These are technically overalls, not jeans, but I just had to include them because of how stylish they are.

My Topshop Jamie jeans are one of my favorite pairs, and now, the brand has a great flared option.

I'm a big fan of wide-leg jeans too. It's hard to find ones that hit at the right length, but I find that cropped ones hit right above the floor for me, which is right where I want them.

If I could one wear pair of jeans forever, this would be it.

Mom jeans aren't a trend anymore—they're a wardrobe staple.

I tried these on and was immediately shocked at how good they are.

These have been on my wish list for a while now.

I've never been one for white jeans, but this pair has me convinced.
